Exploring the themes contained within Katy West’s souvenir ceramic jelly mould, renowned food historian Ivan Day presented a public talk on the final day of Festival 2014. Alongside his engaging presentation Ivan introduced a series of historic moulds and specially prepared moulded recipes to sample, such as jellies and flummery. Ivan Day is best known for his museum exhibitions of re-created historic table settings and is considered to be one of the foremost authorities in this field.

Ivan Day
Ivan Day has an international reputation for his research on British and European culinary history. As well as a scholar, broadcaster and writer, he is also a gifted professional cook and confectioner. He is noted particularly for his re-creations of meals and table settings. His work has been exhibited in many museums, including the Paul Getty Research Institute, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of London, Fairfax House, the Bowes Museum and the Rothschild Collection.
